U2 by u2 hardcover5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The drum kit just about fit into the room, the lead guitarist was playing a homemade guitar, the bassist could barely play at all and nobody wanted to be the singer. The Edge In 1975, four teenagers from Mount Temple School in Dublin gathered in a crowded kitchen to discuss forming a band. We were uncool because we were hot, we just erupted as a live band. We wore it as a stubborn badge of pride that we weren't prepared to fall into line with every other group and take the fashionable stance of the day. Bad haircuts, worse hangovers, prayer meetings and wild parties, encounters with presidents and popes, intimate accounts of the creation of all their classic songs, it is all here in a beautifully-presented book overseen by the band with the same passion for substance, style and immaculate attention to details familiar from their musical career. Told with wit, insight and astonishing candour by the band themselves and manager Paul McGuinness, with pictures from their own archives, 'U2 By U2' allows unprecedented access into the inner life of the greatest rock band of our times. It is the only authorised, fully comprehensive guide to the biggest band in the world. This is the story of U2, in their own words and pictures. I always thought the job was to be as great as you could be. ![]() Made for love by alissa nutting5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() I would listen to those on Audible, and I found them really helpful. I’ve also really gravitated towards self-help books in between reading scripts you know, a lot of things about acceptance of the present moment. My very favorite show is Love After Lockup, where people fall in love while one of them is incarcerated, and then they’re released. On another note, what have you been watching and reading to get you through this tough year? Well, that one has a lot of its own unique challenges that it would bring to an adaptation, but with the right team.that would definitely be interesting. ![]() Is that one you could ever see being adapted? I’m such a fan of your debut novel, Tampa. It’s been such a difficult year with COVID-19 and everything, but now these people are truly close to my heart. Billy Magnussen brought so much heart to it too I can’t say enough good things about the cast. Ray Romano might not have been who I was initially picturing, but it was one of those things where the second came up, there was this collective gasp and we just realized how perfect this beloved actor would be for a more curmudgeonly role. Based on the novel of the same name by Alissa Nutting, Made for Love follows the story of Hazel (Cristin Milioti), a woman. We were able to get such an amazing cast. And that’s all because of its latest original, Made for Love. ![]() I never really wanted to think beyond her. Yes, and Cristin Milioti was always my top choice.
